Pro Guard 9100 Super Armor | A Preservation Coating

The Pro Guard Coatings Super Armor is specifically formulated to be waterproof, reduce dirt accumulation and mildew growth, and facilitate the removal of graffiti on stone and stucco buildings without damaging the coating. How it works: When applied to the exterior of a newly cleaned and painted structure Super Armor forms a nearly invisible membrane envelope. This invisible envelope does not change the appearance of color or texture of the surface. Graffiti can easily be removed by applying a paint stripper followed by a high pressure rinse. ProGuard Coatings packages the catalyst for Super Armor separately. This method of packaging greatly improves the storage stability. When the catalyst is added, however, the mixed product must be applied in approximately one hour to prevent skinning or thickening in the container. The applied material will cure in 1 to 3 hours. Although SUPER ARMOR utilizes recently developed chemistry, it is based on a very durable Urethane Polymer which makes it reasonable to project a 15 year service life for the coating. Features:

How Moisture Curing Works

Our Moisture Cure Liquid Rubber is a Silylated Hybrid Polymer based on a Urethane/Polyether chemistry. Our Moisture Curing mechanism is unique in the way it overcomes restrictions for minimum temperatures and damp or wet substrates. Find out how our 9101 Moisture Cure Liquid Rubber works to provide you with the best coating possible. The base polymer is chemically modified to react with moisture when the supplied catalyst is added. This produces two reactive byproducts which then combine to form a stable bond. This process continues automatically until all reactive sites are combined. The process only depends on the availability of moisture in the form of airborne water vapor or liquid water. This is why Moisture Curable coatings can be applied to damp surfaces and even cure underwater. Low ambient temperatures will slow the cure process, but do not arrest it. Even if the coating is applied in above freezing conditions and temperature drops below that a short time later, the coating will still eventually cure without compromising its physical properties. As long as moisture is available in the presence of the catalyst, the final cured properties will be consistently the same. 9101 Moisture Cure Liquid Rubber and 9100 Super Armor Clear are both moisture curable coatings that can be applied year round. These coatings are equipped to cure at temperatures as low as a few degrees above freezing and can be applied to damp surfaces. Application Add the pre-measured catalyst and apply by brush, roller or spray. The resting viscosity is slightly thick but this will reduce when agitated. Product should be able to be sprayed without solvent dilution. Substrate to be coated may be damp but should not have water droplets on it.

Surface Prep

Substrate should be dry, free of debris, dirt, moss, algae, mildew and oil. Loose or peeling paint must be removed. Make repairs and tighten or replace fasteners prior to application of primer. High pressure washing is an effective cleaning method.

Method of Application

A combination of rubber squeegee, roller and brush are most practical on flat surfaces. A pressure pot spray system may be used if pot life limitations can be adhered to.

Recommended Spreading Rate

When spread at 250 sq. ft. per gallon a 5.5 mil dry film will result on a smooth surface. Although this is sufficient for bonding to the substrate it may be difficult to achieve in practice. A squeegee and roller application will usually result in covering 150-175 sq. ft. per gallon which results in an average dry film thickness of 8-9 mils. Rough or porous surfaces will require a lower coverage per gallon.
